At Red School we teach on the power of the menstrual cycle and the initiatory journey from menarche to menopause. We apply these teachings in different areas including health and wellbeing, personal development, creativity, spirituality and women’s leadership.

We welcome anyone to our workshops who is interested in learning about the power of the menstrual cycle and cyclical living regardless of whether you identify as a woman or not. If you don’t have a menstrual cycle and identify as a woman you can work with this information by using the moon cycle as your cycle template.

Our Menstruality Leadership Programme is specifically focussed on women’s leadership – empowering women through our cyclical model of development. If you don’t identify as a woman but feel drawn to the topic of leadership, please contact us to see how we might be able to frame it to feel more meaningful for you.

We speak of the Feminine and Masculine as archetypal forces that exist in all of us to varying degrees regardless of gender. We often refer to them as the via positiva (the way of the masculine) and the via negativa (the way of the feminine). We write about these two ways of being in great detail in our book Wild Power. The ground of our work rests very strongly in the via negativa. We are committed to the restoration of the Feminine Way in the world.

Our work has emerged out of our own deeply lived experience of the cycle and the experiences of the thousands of cis-gendered women we have worked with over the years. Our ideas are always expanding and evolving through the people we meet and work with. If you are curious to learn about about the menstrual cycle or cyclical living, we’d love you to join our workshops and add your experience, story or perspective to our expanding conversation on the power of the menstrual cycle, and the power of cyclical living.

Because cis-gendered women have traditionally been humiliated, shamed, dismissed and trivialised because of the fact of our menstrual cycle and bleeding itself, opening up to the topic can feel dangerous, initially stirring very vulnerable and shaming feelings. We therefore go to great efforts to create safe and supportive atmospheres within which they may feel safe to recover the power of their cycle and release the shame and darkness around it. We want to extend this sense of safety and support to anyone regardless of your gender who is genuinely seeking to learn with us.

We are all learning and we all need to tread tenderly and thoughtfully in this new unfolding territory of menstrual cycle awareness.

We look forward to meeting you.

Alexandra and Sjanie
