Lazola is a homesteader, menstruality mentor, and Red Tent facilitator from South Africa, deeply rooted in her Xhosa heritage. Her connection to the earth through biodynamic farming, caring for her medicinal herb garden, and her farm animals is at the heart of her work.
At the age of 17, she began volunteering at a local NGO, assisting women and children facing abuse and hardship. This experience ignited her passion for holding space, working with, and serving women as well as people who bleed. Her studies in physical theatre and dance further enriched this mission, using expressive movement for healing and self-exploration, which now forms a fundamental part of her menstruality work.
Before discovering menstruality, Lazola spent four years working in journalism at Bush Radio, South Africa's oldest community radio station, where she served as a junior news anchor, current affairs content producer, and parliamentary correspondent. Her voice transitioned from the airwaves to environmental activism through her Clean Our Hoods SA campaign, aimed at enhancing township environments and nurturing young eco-conscious minds.
It was through her experience with irregular menstrual cycles, linked to stress, that she discovered the connection between emotional well-being and menstrual health. This revelation led her to embrace menstruality as a conscious, lived experience, overcoming cultural stereotypes and using her knowledge to empower other women.
Today, as a certified Menstruality Mentor, she integrates indigenous knowledge into her practice, sharing cycle awareness through wellness retreats, festivals, talks, and Red Tent Gatherings on her farm in South Africa. Her work promotes holistic growth, inclusivity, and self-discovery, embodying her commitment to serving people who bleed and embrace all facets of life.
